Lithium cells are particularly well suited for tough marine environments. The particular characteristics of lithium batteries, especially lithium thionyl chloride manufactured by Tadiran, means the battery pack will be more suitable than other lower powered battery chemistries such as alkaline.
The benefits of lithium batteries include high and stable voltage, high capacity, wide operating temperature range and up to ten years of shelf life.
