Distech Controls, an Acuity Brands company, and innovation leader in energy management solutions, has launched BIM Files (Building Information Modelling) for its whole product portfolio to help architects, engineers and consultants create more efficient buildings.

BIM is a 3D, model-based process that provides useful insights and tools for professionals to plan, design, construct and manage buildings more efficiently. It offers a complete digital representation of a building. Team members can share and update details throughout the project lifecycle, from initial design to construction and beyond.

“BIM is a great tool, ensuring we can build timely and cost-efficient buildings,” comments Mathieu Houle, Global Product Director from Distech Controls. “By utilising BIM, everyone can work collaboratively on a project. Plus, the team will understand how all products and services will work after installation. We are pleased to be able to offer our customers BIM files for our complete product solutions – tools to make their work easier.”

The new Distech Controls files are small and will allow designers to seamlessly integrate building controls into a project, saving both time and money, as they eliminate the guesswork about how the controls will operate in the built environment.

Peter McElroy, Building Services Engineer at BuroHappold Engineering, has already used the Distech Controls files and he comments, “I liked the overall reduced file size, and they conveyed the information that I needed from them ‘out of the box.’ I was delighted when they came through; they have added to the quality of my design – the right dimensions with all the relevant information. BIM Files have ensured the integrity of the controls design and provide the re-assurance that device connectivity is viable.”
