Meter engineers from Energy Assets were privileged to support the BBC’s DIY SOS team in turning a parish building in Blackburn into safe accommodation for the area’s young homeless, as part of a Children in Need project.

The engineers worked alongside npower to upgrade the electricity supply and install new gas and power meters to help create a centre, to be run by Nightsafe, to alleviate the plight of young people aged 16-24.

Said Dave Sing, group managing director (assets) at Energy Assets: “We were extremely proud to lend our expertise to this project, especially as it was for such a worthy cause just a few miles down the road from our offices in Darwen. It was inspiring to see so many companies come together to help homeless young people in the Blackburn area.”
