Eaton keeps the focus on virtualisation at SpiceWorld London 2014

May 6, 2014 | UPS & Standby Power

Power management company Eaton will build on its position in IT integration at this year’s SpiceWorld London user conference which takes place on 13th and 14th May at The Brewery. Eaton will be offering SpiceWorld attendees information on its power infrastructure solutions for converged IT environments. These include IT racks, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPSs), efficient rack power distribution products, and its Intelligent Power Manager software which integrates with leading virtualisation platforms.

“The adoption of virtualised environments and converged infrastructure is now widespread in the IT market,” said Cyrille Brisson, vice president, Power Quality, EMEA. “Eaton will demonstrate how our latest products support and facilitate these key developments. We’re not talking only about UPSs; we have an extensive range of products – including racks, enclosure distribution systems and software – all of which provide outstanding benefits for users of the leading converged infrastructure offerings such as FlexPod and FlexPod Express from NetApp, and VSPEX from EMC.”

Eaton experts will be available at SpiceWorld London to discuss how Eaton’s unique power management software provides close integration with all major virtualisation platforms, including vCenter, CitrixXen and Microsoft, as well as supporting Cisco UCS servers and NetApp data storage devices. Visitors will be able to find out how Intelligent Power software can help by providing features such as single-pane management so that all UPSs and rackmount power distribution units (PDUs) in the virtual network can be viewed in the same virtualisation dashboard, alongside network, physical server and storage information. The software, a live demo of which will be featured on the stand, can also be configured to trigger the live migration of virtual machines to a back-up facility, to ensure data integrity and zero downtime, as well as offer controlled, graceful shutdown of physical hosts, hypervisors and their guests during prolonged power outages.

The Eaton 5P UPS on display supports a complete solution for virtualisation strategies and provides simplified energy management through an intuitive graphical display panel, with integral energy metering and pure sine-wave output. Also on view is Eaton’s range of Advanced Monitored and Managed rackmount ePDU, which provide outlet level monitoring and control, enabling better management of power consumption and energy costs.

Eaton will also be hosting a workshop on ‘Business Continuity – Keeping your business running when the power stays off’. The workshop will look at how, with the introduction of more intelligent power management software, operators of smaller IT installations can now enjoy valuable benefits that were previously only available to large scale enterprise operations. Additionally, attendees will also learn how to ensure their business can keep running in the event of a power failure and simply replicate the protection and benefits of a large scale data centre by using complimentary and intelligent power management technologies.

But it is not all work on the Eaton stand. Fun and games include a chance to win an xBox One and tickets for next year’s SpiceWorld London event in an Eye Spy game on the stand. But for those not lucky enough to win, there is a selection of giveaways including the company’s latest desk toy character since the devil duck – a set of windup chattering teeth!
