125,000 cable clamps manufactured in Yorkshire by Ellis are currently being installed on a high speed extension of the Hong Kong MTR network.

The Hong Kong section of the Express Rail Link (XRL) runs from West Kowloon to the Shenzhen / HK Boundary, where it connects with the China Mainland section of the network, and when complete will see trains operating at a maximum speed of 200km per hour – cutting journey times by an average of 50 per cent.

Ellis’ one and two hole polymeric cable clamps were specified by CLP Power through local distributor, Wang Yip Hong and are being used to secure power, pilot and fibre optic cables throughout all the tunnels.

Tony Conroy, Ellis’ export sales director, said: “CLP is the biggest power utility company in Hong Kong and we are its sole supplier of cable cleats and clamps – a relationship that speaks volumes for the work done by the team at Wang Yip Hong and why we put so much faith in local distributors when it comes to exporting.”

Ellis’ ever-expanding network of local distributors sees them represented in 30 different countries. This approach has ensured the company name is at the forefront of specification consideration for virtually every major power, oil and gas, and infrastructure project, no matter where the location.

“There is no way we could have achieved and then maintained our status as the world’s leading cable cleat manufacturer without our distributor network,” added Tony. “They open doors for us that, quite honestly, we wouldn’t even have known were there, and as we look to expand our export operation into new territories and further develop our presence in existing markets, its size and importance will continue to grow.”

Manufactured as standard in black Polypropylene or black flame retardant VO Zero Halogen Phosphorous (LSF), Ellis’ one hole and two hole polymeric cable clamps can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications.
