Ellis to expand offshore activity

Ellis has set its sights on expanding its presence in the offshore and shipping markets following Type Approval of its Vulcan and Emperor cable cleats by DNV GL.

Andy Booth, technical director of Ellis, said, “DNV GL Type Approval is one of the most commonly requested product certifications in any of the geographical or industry markets, which we operate in.

“And although we already have a considerable presence in the offshore and shipping market, this approval will open a great deal of new doors and enable us to firmly establish our position as market leader.”

Ellis’ DNV GL approval complies with DNV’s Rule for Classification of Ships, High Speed & Light Craft and its Offshore Standards, and covers the fixing of cables onboard mobile offshore units and ships.

Ellis’ cable cleats are designed and manufactured to secure electrical cables in a manner that can withstand the forces generated by the cables, including those generated during a short circuit fault.

Manufactured in 316L stainless steel, Ellis’ Emperor and Vulcan cleats provide ultimate corrosion protection, even in the harshest of environments, meaning they are well suited for offshore and shipping installations.

The Emperor cleats and are designed for use where the highest levels of short circuit withstand are required, while Vulcan cleats are ideal for installations where moderate levels are short circuit withstand are required.
