Flexicon has published a 44 page specification guide to cable protection systems for rail applications.

Says Colin Legg, Marketing Manager for Flexicon; “Protecting power and data cabling for rolling stock and infrastructure is absolutely vital in the rail industry. Not only does it ensure the on-going efficiency of the network, but the cabling is often used for safety critical applications such as signalling.”

The new guide details 31 flexible conduit systems that meet the exacting needs of the rail industry. It includes a number of new developments such as the company’s new Flexicon UltraTM.

Recognising the importance of getting product selection correct for ongoing cable protection, the guide is laid out in an easy to use format. It outlines different cable protection applications for both rolling stock and infrastructure, sets out conduit selection charts for both non-metallic and metallic systems and provides installation instructions and technical guidance.

Concludes Legg: “This is the most comprehensive specification guide ever produced for cable protection in the rail industry. It comes at a time that ongoing continuity of supply for both power and data is critical, with the application of technology increasing to enhance capacity of the network, reduce cost and improve the customer experience.”

Flexicon has a proven track record in the global rail industry and meets all of the latest industry standards such as EN45545. It has the widest selection of flexible conduit systems approved by the London Underground and is the first UK manufacturer of flexible conduit and cable protection systems to be awarded the International Railway Industry Standard accreditation.
