Having added Certification Body Test Lab (CBTL) accreditation in Atlanta, TÜV SÜD can now test lighting and LED products for compliance in over 40 markets.
Lighting, luminaire and LED manufacturers that wish to sell internationally will benefit from a single safety evaluation to the CB Scheme, which provides proof of compliance to safety regulations in over 40 counties. As one of only three organisations in the US with this accreditation, the TÜV SÜD Centre of Excellence for Lighting in Atlanta, GA, now offers a full scope of safety testing and photometric measurements at a single convenient location.
The CB Scheme offers manufacturers an opportunity to increase global marketability. The scheme facilitates the international exchange and acceptance of product safety test results among participating national certification bodies for approval or certification in one or more countries, normally, without the need for additional testing. Manufacturers, distributors, and consumers benefit from the singular goal of ‘one standard, one test, accepted everywhere’.
In addition to electrical safety testing for lamps and luminaries, the Atlanta facility offers a full scope of EMC and wireless testing, photometric testing, including Design Lights Consortium, CEC Title 20 and Title 24, endurance, and energy efficiency, including the Energy Star program.
“We listened to our customers and responded by creating a Lighting Centre of Excellence providing local access to test capabilities and engineering expertise for worldwide approvals,” said Jan-Paul van Maaren, PhD, vice president of product service. “Lighting and LED products are often manufactured in Asia, but R&D is prevalent in the US, and those engineers need access to an experienced testing staff they can trust.”
